This is a commentary on the discussion that followed the showing of Andrei Tarkovsky’s film "The Sacrifice", in which the author examines the effects on the psychism of the trauma of the threat of nuclear destruction, on the basis of an analysis of the director’s work and revisions of the Freudian concept of the death instinct.
