Abstract

HERRMANN, Leda; HERRMANN, Fabio  and  SCHOR, Ana Marli. Letters of self-love and other loves…. Ide (São Paulo) [online]. 2011, vol.34, n.52, pp. 103-110. ISSN 0101-3106.

This article was originally published in 1982, when the translation into Portuguese of excerpts of Freud’s correspondence was launched, which had first been organized by Freud’s son Ernst. More than a literary review, this two-authored text pursues certain clues in his letters, in an attempt to delineate which loves trickled from Freud’s pen. Working through the letters from their inner side, a surprising result is reached that puts the reader in face of a young man whose tenacious and vivacious intensions were still to be transformed into realizations. Thus the title “Letters of self-love and other loves…” and the invitation opened to study Freud’s legacy for those who want to know the intimacy of his life.

Keywords : Sigmund Freud; Psychoanalysis; Psychoanalytic method; Everyday life.
