Abstract

FRAYZE-PEREIRA, João A.. Psychoanalytic poetics: Christopher Bollas and the issue of aesthetic experience. Ide (São Paulo) [online]. 2011, vol.34, n.53, pp.181-198. ISSN 0101-3106.

Considering the relations between certain contemporary Aesthetics’ concepts and the theoretical and clinical resources of Christopher Bollas’s work, this paper presents how this author addresses the issue of aesthetic experience. Based on the psychoanalytic concepts of self and use of the object, among others, as well as on references to art and culture, which are present in his work, a conception on the psychoanalytic making as a poetics is developed, analogous to the artistic making, that is, a specific operation that gives the experience a form (or structure). In this process, as manifested in psychoanalysis and art, there is an idea of creativity which involves destructiveness.

Keywords : Poetics; Art; Aesthetic experience; True self.
