Abstract

CINTRA, Elisa Maria de Ulhôa. Creating psychic space and feeling grateful: psychic life and its transmission. Ide (São Paulo) [online]. 2020, vol.42, n.69, pp. 241-253. ISSN 0101-3106.

This article is about psychic life constitution and its transmission so that mourning processes and gratitude predominate over melancholy and envy. The dynamic processes of melancholy and the "working through" processes of mourning (in Freud's Mourning and melancholy) are related to Klein's ideas presented in her text Envy and gratitude. How can the environment facilitate a psychic organization that will result in gratefulness and creativity, as compared to a psychic organization where hate and envy are predominant. The cohesive effect of playing and narrative associated to a loving and empathic listening are considered as repairing strategies to deal with environmental impingement and trauma.

Keywords : Envy; Gratitude; Mourning; Melancholy; Empathy; Therapeutic effect of narrative.
