Abstract

SOUSA, Edson Luiz André de. Crossing deserts - psychoanalysis and utopia. Psicol. clin. [online]. 2017, vol.29, n.1, pp. 23-30. ISSN 0103-5665.

This paper proposes the idea of desert as a possible metaphor of totalitarian places where images are presented as imperative and prescriptive. This has been a very present scenario in the current political situation in our country. To what extent can the field of utopian studies and psychoanalysis provide critical tools for identifying and traversing these deserts? We sought to dialogue with Pierre Naville’s reflection in his book The Revolution and the Intellectuals, where he proposes the famous slogan “It is necessary to organize pessimism”.

Keywords : psychoanalysis; utopia; politics; Pierre Naville.
