This essay addresses aspects of certain bonds in which the union is characterized by a progressive wearing out, leading to a symbolic double suicide. A film directed by Takeshi Kitano is used to illustrate the analysis, in an overview of marionette theatre and Japanese Renaissance drama. We have our consulting rooms as a stage for these “performances” and the challenge to possibly avoid such tragic consequences.
