This paper concerns a clinical experience of ‘shuttle’ analysis carried out in a language that was neither the mother tongue of the patient nor of the analyst. It an offer interesting points for reflection both on the problems of language in clinical practice and on the specific problems of analytical training in areas without Component Societies for regular training.
