This essay intends to discuss some relations between modernist writer Oswald de Andrade's anthropophagy and psychoanalysis, placing the debate in the context of European Avant-garde. Freud's essay, Totem and Tabu, is also brought to dialogue with Oswald's ideas, illuminating some correlations between psychoanalysis and the anthropophagic metaphor in terms of the process of subjectivation.
