Abstract

GANTHERET, François  and  BERLINER, Claudia. A man disappeared. Rev. bras. psicanál [online]. 2013, vol.47, n.3, pp. 61-68. ISSN 0486-641X.

J.-B. Pontalis, who left us on January 15th 2013, at the age of 89, was one of the most important French psychoanalysts. He was also an editor and writer. Analyzed by Lacan, from whom he soon after broke apart, he was also a close friend of Sartre, Merleau-Ponty, J.-P. Vernant, Starobinski, and many others. This article deals particularly with his relationship with Sartre and the magazine Les Temps Modernes, and, through this episode, with his free and generous conception of psychoanalysis.

Keywords : J.-B. Pontalis; Sartre; Les Temps Modernes; French psychoanalysis; language.
