Abstract

TOGNOLLI, Dora. The shadow of the object fell upon the analyst. Rev. bras. psicanál [online]. 2013, vol.47, n.4, pp. 135-145. ISSN 0486-641X.

This work aims to bring the theme of melancholy into evidence, starting from an analysis that leads to a stalemate and is interrupted. Freud's texts, from the work of Narcissism, followed by Mourning and Melancholy and the Ego and the Id, are considered a starting point for reflecting upon the clinical practice. Also discussed are work strategies with regards to melancholy and the underlying challenges of the construction and creation of narratives that introduce time and history in the individual's life.

Keywords : shadow; object; melancholy; narcissism; death drive.
