MARQUETTI, Fernanda Cristina. A suicide ensnared by oblivion. Rev. bras. psicanál [online]. 2019, vol.53, n.4, pp. 175-191. ISSN 0486-641X.

In this article we discuss how the suicide event was immersed in the medical discourse in contemporary society. We discuss how some techniques, protocols and instruments do not allow other forms of understanding of the event to emerge. Our goal was to analyze how this hegemonic discourse isolated suicide and placed it in a state of confinement across medical categories. We also discuss how the narratives of the subjects involved become subordinate to the conceptions of medical discourse. We emphasize the lack of listening to subjects involved in suicidal events, whether family members, or the subjects themselves who attempted suicide. And, we discuss an emblematic case, but inserted in a general demand on this subject. We point out some possibilities of listening to the subject attempting suicide even when the narrative is disconnected or obstructed. At this stage we are inspired by the references of psychoanalytic theory.

Palavras-chave : suicide; suicide attempted; memory.
