This study has focused on aspects of the process of producing argumentative texts. It was aimed at investigating the interdependence relationship between the sub-processes of elaboration and formulation of contents, as wellas the emphasis given by the subjects on the operation of justification and negotiation. Ten university students were requested to produce a text about a given theme using a computer to verbalize their thoughts during the writing process; and to explain, in an interview, the alterations made during the text construction. As a result, three types of protocols, emerged which constitute the corpus analyzed : the verbalizations emited along the text production, the final text and the interview. The results pointed out to an interdependence relationship between the sub-processes of ideas production and the text itself, as well as to underlying the text production. A higher emphasis was given by the subjects to the justification operations
