SAMUEL, Ligia Ziegler  y  POLLI, Gislei Mocelin. Social representations and eating disorders: systematic review. Bol. - Acad. Paul. Psicol. [online]. 2020, vol.40, n.98, pp. 91-99. ISSN 1415-711X.

The etiology of eating disorders is multifactorial and social representations play an important role in the way individuals view and live their own bodies and food. This study aimed to present a systematic review of the literature on the social representations of eating disorders in the last 10 years. A search was performed in eight national databases and found 192 works that were refined, resulting in nine papers. The papers relate behavioral practices of worship to the beautiful and desired body, and eating practices for the maintenance of the same. The media helps to reinforce the ideas of body worship, proper eating, and social representations are an interesting option for the study of the meanings that people construct in relation to the body and food.

Palabras clave : eating disorders; social representations; body; media.
