Abstract

This study proposes a re-reading of couple’s definitories parameters presented by Puget and Berenstein, considering their relevance in researches focused on the psychoanalytic understanding about this institution, nowadays/now legitimized in different configurations and placed in a different social setting than the parameters that were initially set. For this, we take up the main ideas of the authors mentioned above, linking them with observations about the phenomena that collaborated in the processing of so-called modern world in recognized contemporary world, including studies and discussions of psychology, sociology, and law’s area, for update of the variables on the trans-psychic dimension, relevant in the proposal of our main references.  We concluded that the definitories parameters, as originally designed, preserve its value as reference to think the couple in their dynamics and variability. It is necessary, however, caution about the types bound, which, in the contemporary scenario, may be confused with the couple’s movements in response to demands from its context and values of life, and not necessarily expressing a couple’s own unconscious dynamics.
