Abstract This paper discusses the concept of bounded rationality, widely used within decision making theories; analyzing it the cognitive conception subjacent in this concept. Taking for basis this analyzes the main limitations of that cognitive conception for understanding the human decision process are aroused. Laying emphasis on the importance to investigate more complex forms for understanding the cognitive aspect in human decision process, thus better comprehending it and working on them, the principles of self-organization and embodied cognition are explained. The possible contributions of these concepts for understanding the cognitive elements of the decision making process are discussed. The relationship stated among the bounded rationality concept and the concepts of self-organization and embodied cognition isn't one radically opposite but rather dialogical.
