Abstract

FIALHO, Francisco A. P  and  SILVEIRA, Ermelinda G. F. Deep Therapy and second order attractors. Ciênc. cogn. [online]. 2009, vol.14, n.2, pp. 113-129. ISSN 1806-5821.

The first psychoanalysts dream, shared by Freud, was to find a locus for the psychological processes. With the development of optimal mathematical models for nonlinear dynamical systems, it was possible to use this new language, not to find a locus, but for a better organization of the knowledge acquired about the conscious and unconscious structures and their movement toward self-organization. The article episthemology is anchored in the depth psychology of Jung and the contributions of post-Jungian. The authors bring also recent discussions with the transpersonal psychology, mainly quoting Wilber in his comments on Jung. We explore in this article, in particular, the concept of attractors, a concept already imagined by these men of extraordinary genius, Freud and Jung, exemplified by the comb that Freud used to explain how traits were able to generate behavior. The article makes a review of literature, visiting some authors who are using this language to describe both normal and pathological behavior, going further, setting some analogies and, in conclusion, formulating conjectures that opens new researches possibilities for the readers
