The social representations may be understood as a social-historical text that inhabits and qualifies every one of us in order to establish relations with the world. Therefore, the person is always a social entity, a living symbol of a group. The social representations and their language not only form actuality/the world, but also constitute professional or not professional people's way of acting. The present study aimed to identify social representations about high school teachers' reading from a Londrina (PR-Brazil) public school. In order to collect information, the Free Words Association Tests was used, with the following indications: reading is...; reader is...; to read is... Interpretative analyses of the information guided a set of results that shows convergences and dissonances among the central elements of these representations among the participants. Limitations of the present study and suggestions for future research were shown, aimed to instigate other researchers to study its subject so that educational actions are effective for teachers' formation as readers. © Cien.
