Abstract

REZENDE, William Araujo  and  WINOGRAD, Monah. What is cybersex?: A three time points archeology. Arq. bras. psicol. [online]. 2016, vol.68, n.1, pp. 35-48. ISSN 1809-5267.

This paper aims to examine cybersex from the discursive context that involves this concept. For this, we start questioning its specificity by analyzing the current definitions in science. We then trace the archeology of its emergence in the field of knowledge in three different moments, based on a survey of the discourses conveyed by the media and scientific journals. First, we analyze how it emerges as a problem of identity and soon becomes a dangerous issue marked by media speeches. Then we verify how cybersex is conjured by the legal dimension through perpetual suspicion of a potential crime. Finally, we investigate its insertion in the scope of Psychology, mainly through a pathologizing discourse. We conclude that the concept of cybersex is not limited to this epistemological framework which does not contemplate the unique experiences that can reveal its molecular dimension.

Keywords : Sexuality; Cybersex; Archeology.
