In August 2011, Raúl Zaffaroni (Professor of UBA, former congressman and Justice of Argentina's Supreme Court), Lola Aniyar de Castro (Professor of Univ. del Zulia - Venezuela, former senator and governor) and Nilo Batista (Professor of UERJ and UFRJ, former Secretary of Justice and Civil Police of Rio de Janeiro state) took part in a meeting to share their experiences on the administration of the criminal system and to reflect upon the authoritarian trend of the criminal policy in the re-democratized latin american countries. Brazilian social communication acknowledges the defeat of the concepts formulated by the critical criminology and penology, but strives to withdraw from it some advice to young criminologists and penologists that labour inside the criminal system.
