AUTHORS GUIDELINE

 

AIMS & SCOPE

 

Psychology: Education and Training aims at  disseminating psychological knowledge about education and training in different levels and contexts; covering educational content, ethical, epistemological and methodological issues by means the publishment of scientific articles, studies, essays, reviews and experience reports relating to educational psychology and training.

Our target audience is primarily Psychiatrists, psychologists, sociologists, social workers, teachers and students of psychology, interested in education and training in psychology.

The journal will be published biannually.

 

 

INITIAL EVALUATION POLICIES

 

EVALUATION POLICIES & PEER REVIEW

Unpublished works - researches, essays, reviews, theoretical studies, experience reports -after subjected to initial evaluation and peer review, will be accepted, since it can contribute for the debate on teaching-learning and training process in psychology.

Also, it will be published, professional experience reports with emphasis on education in psychology and training for professionals and students, as well as critical reviews of interest for this area.

All contributions can be sent in Portuguese or Spanish and will be subjected to at least two referees - members of the Consulting Board ad hoc.

 

 

EVALUATION GUIDELINES

 

Manuscripts will be evaluated according to the following guidelines:

1. The submitted study must contribute to the debate on psychology teaching and training, especially in Brazil and Latin America;

2. It must be an original study or have its relevance and particularities defended clearly and consistently;

3. The bibliographical background / references must be updated according to the proposed theme;

4. The language must be clear and objective, eliminating possible grammatical or spelling errors, and bias;

5. The work purpose, its relevance, theoretical foundations, objectives, research methods and results should be clearly defined and it must be presented objectively.

 

 

GUIDELINES FOR AUTHORS

 

Manuscripts should be submitted electronically through the page:

<http://submission-pepsic.scielo.br/index.php/pef/login>; the author must ensure the figures: graphs, charts, maps, drawings, photographs, and tables are included in one single file.

All manuscripts should be submitted in Word, OpenOffice or RTF format; source Times New Roman, size 12, double-spaced.

 

Types of paper:

1. Theoretical studies/ essays: themes and questions related to the teaching and formation of psychologists, theoretically based, which may questioning its current forms, social, ethical and political dimensions (from 15 to 25 pages);

2. Research reports: investigations based on empirical data, by using quantitative and/or qualitative methodologies. The follow structure is required: Introduction, methods, results, discussion and conclusion (from 15 to 25 pages);

3. Professional experience Reports: It must contribute to the psychology teaching-learning process (from 08 to 15 pages);

4. Reviews / Essays: critical reviews related to education and training in psychology or to the process of psychology teaching and learning, as long as it justifies its relevance for the formation of psychologists (from 05 to 08 pages);

5. Dossiers: a collection of texts organized from a single axis, accompanied by an articulator theme; under the responsibility of the coordinator. Themes can addresses aspects of teaching, professional practices etc. The dossiers must containing 5-8 articles (from 15 to 25 pages).

 

 

SPECIAL SECTIONS OF THE JOURNAL

 

Journals in dialogue

This section publishes studies and researches that highlight relevant themes - which have been published in other scientific journals of psychology. The authors of such articles will be editors of other Journals, special invited to write texts addressing issues of interest to the education and training in psychology.

Tribute to ABEP staff

The section will pay tribute to people who have contributed to the development of the association towards the qualification in education and training in psychology (from 2 to 4 pages.

 

 

 

FORMATING

 

FORMATING

Source Times New Roman size 12;
Unnumbered pages in paper A4;
Double-space the entire document;
Indent the first line of every paragraph 1.25 cm;
Align the text to the left hand margin 2 cm;
There should not be any element in the text that identifies the author.
(eg. Letterhead, footer with the author's name, title of research, data in the Microsoft Word properties etc.).

For submission, it is required an abstract (resumo), in Portuguese, with a maximum of 150 words and four keywords, preferably from Terminology in Psychology of Virtual Health Library, that must be included in the metadata area. In case of acceptance for publication, it is required an abstract in English and one resumen in Spanish, compatible with the abstract in Portuguese, each one must be accompanied by four keywords.

 

Figures and Tables:

1. Figures should be inserted in the text, preferably in .jpg, format with 72dpi resolution. For the printed version, the author will be asked to send separate files for each figure, with a minimum resolution of 300 dpi;

2. The authors are legally responsible for the use of images and should ensure that all rights are guaranteed to the publication in printed and electronic media;

3. No table or figure should exceed the space provided for one (1) page printed - A4 -also, the captions and titles must be legible.

 

Citation in text:

1. Our standard is the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (APA, 2010, 6th ed.);

2. Notes (non-bibliographical) should be reduced to a minimum, numbered consecutively with Arabic numerals and placed at the end of the article, before the references;

3. Use APA format, follow the author-date method of in-text citation: author's last name and the year of publication; for longer quotations place the author's last name, the year of publication, and the page number in parentheses after the quotation;

4. For old works and reedited ones: Author (date of original publication / date of consulted publication)

5. In the case of multiple authorship article citation, the rules are as follows:

a) Two authors: cite both surnames every time the article is mentioned in the text, including the date of the study in parenthesis;

b) Three to five authors: cite all the authors in the first reference, followed by the date of the study in parenthesis. From the second reference, use the first author followed by "et al" and the date;

c) Six or more authors: cite only the first author's surname followed by "et al" and date. However, in the References section every authors should be listed.

6. Secondary Quote is a quotation from an article discussed in another publication without the original has been used. It is required to name the original source in your signal phrase, then, list the secondary source in your References, including the secondary source in the parentheses (APA format).

MANUSCRIPT SUBMISSION

1. The contribution must be original, not previously published, and not under concurrent consideration elsewhere; otherwise it must be stated in "Comments to the Editor";

2. Manuscripts must be submitted in Microsoft Word, OpenOffice or RTF format (provided they do not exceed 2MB);

3. URLs for the references must be informed when necessary;

4. The manuscript must follow the format and style patterns described in Guidelines for Author in the section About the Journal;

5. The authorship must be removed from the file and from the Microsoft Word Properties option, thus ensuring the Journal's confidentiality criteria integrity, in case of submission to peer review (eg.: articles), according to instructions available in Ensuring Blind Peer Review;

6. The Author warrants and guarantees that, where the Paper represents results of research, and where there is an applicable ethics committee overview of the research, approval has been obtained and complied with.

7. Terms and conditions of this Agreement must be accepted by authors.

 

PERMISSIONS AND COPYRIGHT

Authors who publish in this Journal must agree to the following terms:

The authors hold the right to copyright and grant the Journal the right of first publication, and also acknowledge that the paper is being simultaneously licensed by the Creative Commons Attribution License, which allows for the sharing of the paper with recognition of authorship and initial publication in this Journal.

The authors are allowed to sign additional contracts, separately, for non-exclusive distribution of the study published in this Journal (eg.: in institutional repositories or as book's chapter), with an acknowledgment of its initial publication, indicating this Journal

The authors are encouraged and permitted to publish and share their work online (eg.: in institutional repositories or on their homepage) at any time before or during the editorial process, as it can lead to productive exchanges, and increase the impact and citation of published work (See the Effect of Free Access).

 

PUBLISHING FORMAT

Psychology: Education and Training is published in electronic version, biannually. The articles review and submissions are continuous and should be done electronically.
